Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials managed by AWS Cognito
- Usage Data: Research jobs, symbols viewed, watchlists, portfolio positions, theses, and platform interactions
- Product Telemetry: Page-view events, in-app actions (e.g. opening an evidence citation, searching the corpus), and an anonymous session identifier (a random UUID stored in your browser, reset after 30 minutes of inactivity). We do not store the content of your research notes or thesis prose in this telemetry — only the fact that you took the action.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information, and access logs (used for fraud prevention and abuse detection only)
- Payment Information: Processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store credit card details
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and improve our research platform
- Process your research requests and generate recommendations
- Send service updates and notifications (if enabled)
- Analyze platform usage to enhance features
- Prevent fraud and ensure security
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service Providers: AWS, authentication providers, payment processors (under strict confidentiality agreements)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
- Business Transfers: In case of merger or acquisition (you will be notified)
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest, JWT-based authentication, role-based access control, and regular security audits.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we may retain certain data for legal compliance and fraud prevention purposes for up to 7 years.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data
- Opt-out of marketing communications
- Withdraw consent (where applicable)
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@alphapod.ai.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Segment, no Facebook Pixel). You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may limit platform functionality.
7a. Product Analytics
We measure how the platform is used so we can improve it. All product telemetry is collected and stored entirely within our own AWS infrastructure — there is no third-party analytics platform involved. The data is:
- Stored in our private database alongside the rest of your account data, in the same AWS region.
- Accessible only to AlphaPod administrators with explicit IAM permissions; there is no read endpoint exposed to other customers and no API path that returns one user's activity to another user.
- Used only for retention and engagement measurement, funnel analysis, fraud and abuse detection, and product improvement.
- Never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, marketers, or third-party analytics providers.
- Free of sensitive content: we do not log the verbatim text of your research notes, thesis prose, or generated reports — only the fact that the action occurred and the identifier of the related record.
You can request a full export or deletion of your product-telemetry rows at any time by contacting privacy@alphapod.ai (see §6 Your Rights).
8. International Data Transfers
Your data is stored in AWS data centers in the United States. By using our service, you consent to international data transfer.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or prominent notice on the platform.
